Walk-ins: adding someone at the door
Someone's at the door and not on the list: add them from the scanner with a name and party size, decide whether they sign the waiver, and let them in — with or without signal.
Add and admit
- In the scanner, open the guest list and tap Add a walk-in (or search a name that isn't there and tap Add).
- Type the name and the party size.
- If the event has a required waiver, choose: Sign now (the signing sheet opens, each person types their own name) or No waiver needed (for someone the organiser vouches for — it's noted on the guest).
- Tap Add and let in. The guest is on the event's list as a walk-in, with their check-in.
The organiser sees walk-ins in the guest list filtered by Source: Walk-in, and in the event summary.
With a bad signal
Walk-ins work offline on a door with offline scanning on: the guest goes on the phone's list, is let in, and uploads when the signal is back — together with any signature taken. A phone that lost the signal in the middle of adding doesn't create the same walk-in twice: each walk-in carries a tag, so a retry finds the one already saved. Two phones adding the same person by hand still can; the organiser merges them later (see Correct attendance and duplicates).
Slow connections
When the network answers slowly or with errors twice in a row, the scanner switches to slow-connection mode for a minute and a half: every scan, name admission and signature is decided from the phone's saved list at once — exactly as offline — and queued. A small check in the background notices when the server answers again, uploads the queue and ends the mode. The status line says Slow connection · deciding from the saved list.
Walk-ins count toward the event's seats like any other guest.
